So, once again it happens - just like in Wales and just like what happened in Islington: a children's home in Jersey has been found to hide the activities of an organized pedophile ring.

This phenomenon is so widespread that it is reasonable for anyone to seriously suspect that child abuse of this kind is endemic in the British care system. A number of homes in all these three areas of the UK have been/are under investigation.

A week or so ago, a skull was unearthed in the former children's home Haut de la Garenne in Jersey. Now, over 160 victims of severe abuse are at last having their traumatic accounts listened to. Attempts had been made to get the truth out long before now, but "whistle blowers" including a police officer and an award winning journalist, were silenced and ignored by the police and social services.

A trap door, torture chamber and pits, things staff must have been aware of and that implicate them as being guilty, have been found. This situation cannot have occurred by random chance. The well-substantiated accusations being made, by more than 160 victims, suggest that "the great and the good" have been organizing some bizarre fun for themselves. Only people with power and authority could have arranged the complex network that has been carrying on for decades.

These same sort of people were accused in Wales, (including one man, charged and not convicted of buggering a boy, who was simultaneously: a Lord, member of parliament for Labour, a magistrate; and leader of an important lobby representing an ethnic minority). The convicted pedophile, Frank Beck, who implicated him died of heart attack in prison shortly afterwards. The serial killer Fred West was allegedly involved in catering in perverse ways to police and politicians. He mysteriously managed to kill himself in a suicide that should not have been possible, after he had said that he was covering for others and it would all come out in the end.

This latest appalling episode should outrage everyone! Don't people realize the gravity? Yet, there is such apathy. Pedophiles who are known in local areas get lynched and quite possibly killed. In jail they have to be protected from the other inmates, as those who commit sex crime and harming children are considered by many to be the worst by even low-life standards. This outrage is what is happening in children's homes. What parent can be certain that their own kids might not, through some unforeseen tragedy, be delivered into the hands of such creeps?

A scandal of this sort should be enough to bring down a government, regardless of proving the precise identities of the individuals behind it. In the late 1990s, the Belgians had a massive protest, the "White March," with 400,000 people converging on the Palace of Justice in Brussels. This was a reaction to the evidential deliberate mishandling of the Marc Dutroux child sex ring, which pointed a finger at the police and various influential figures of importance as having taken part in depraved orgies. The government managed to pacify the public with promises of reforms that were never put in place.

If the 160 surviving victims in Jersey were to get only ten people each to protest, they would already have 1,600 people and, with some internet publicity, perhaps they too could gather hundreds of thousands to march on Downing Street.

A burden of duty lies upon us to acknowledge that western democracies are rotten at the core. They do not deserve the mandate to rule that we give by voting for mainstream parties or supporting the system. Can it be any wonder that an establishment that is full of professional liars also includes a number who are indulging in much deeper, darker perversions?
