Pekka-Eric Auvinen (1989 - 2007)

In an insane society, cover-ups and scapegoats are commonplace. Mass media and government censorship protecting a life-denying existence controls people to the point of numbness. When someone with a higher vision of what human life could be lashes out, committing an 'unthinkable' act, people are shocked. Every so often, a dissident will communicate his or her message to the world. This is, unfortunately, best achieved through extreme actions. The majority will choose the cop-out causes presented by the media, such as violent video games and insanity, to avoid being pulled out of their "comfortable" lifestyles, because usually the dissident's message will hit home, hard. But for those people dissatisfied with modernity and possess minds capable of higher things than 'Seinfeld' or 'Jerry Springer', the person's intent can be realised.

Introduction

Pekka-Eric Auvinen was an 18 year old Finnish school student who sought to make a difference. On the 7th of November 2007, Pekka-Eric killed 8 people at his high school in Jokela 50 kilometres north of Helsinki. He then took his own life before he could be captured (though he did not die until in hospital). This incident was not due to mental problems as the media would have people believe. Auvinen sacrificed himself and others in a violent act to communicate a message in dire need of being heard: modern society is corrupt.

Society Fails Bright Teenagers

We know that Pekka-Eric was a misanthropist who admitted to being unhappy. But what could drive a school student to gun down fellow students at his high school? Teenage depression has been on a continual rise for years. Some depressed due to ego-drama and trivial issues (ie. OMG my girlfriend dumped me, my favourite porn magazine got discontinued). But the real underlying cause for most crossing from adolescence to adulthood is the transition into a working member of a dysfunctional society, a world where each town/city is becoming more and more like the next, controlled by corrupt government, capitalist global enterprises and consumerist culture.

Society fails From a young age, children's mind are governed into conformity particularly through television and the education system. Many people later acknowledge current society is on a track to derailment, but often can't quite put their finger on why as escaping a mindset fostered since birth is difficult, thus they learn to tolerate it. Through egalitarian dogma spread via mass media and laws protecting the stupid and elevating their social status and rights to equal all, adolescents becoming adults are taught to accept dysfunction and the insane pretenses given to the notions of what is good/evil and right/wrong. This is quite an unnatural process for many, and coming into maturity seemingly means to squelch the inner child that screams 'this is #%$@ed', and prepare for four decades of sitting behind a desk or cash register. For the intelligent/aware, depression is extraneous as they realise society isn't made for them. Crowd logic doesn't recognize symptoms of degeneracy, and will drown out any voice that sings a different song: higher intelligence isn't welcome.

There are four main ways youths who realise fault will respond to this transition, which can shape the rest of their lives (or end them). The most common is to surrogate aspects of life modern society neglects to provide for with what feels good and can ease the downfalls of a troubled illusion. The effects and means of this are somewhat synonymous with the degenerate modern youth culture: binge-drinking, drugs, sex, and various forms of modern entertainment (time-fillers). Some will simply lash out at what they can in an attempt to control something in their lives, as most of it is in the hands of totalitarian politicians. Others commit suicide. The least common response to degeneracy is to find realistic alternatives and act. Auvinen responded with the latter two options.

Ideas

Pekka-Eric Auvinen left behind a manifesto containing his thoughts on modern society and why he decided to do what he did. He expressed his hatred towards contemporary society and criticized some of its faults.

Modern western democracy has nothing to do with freedom or justice; it is totalitarian and corrupted system. Laws are made over the heads of the people and people are being brainwashed to support the system and connected to the institutional structures immediately after their birth. Societies are being ruled by manipulative and charismatic politicians who only care about the interests of majority, and who do not base their decisions on reason but emotions and feelings of the masses.

Humanity is overrated Auvinen declared democracy and its supporters as his enemy. He recognized modern governments are run by complaisant politicians merely catering to the wants of the ever-growing unintelligent crowds. Pekka-Eric devised that 3% of humans are intelligent, and 94% are 'normal' people, which he dismisses, perhaps justly, as robots (the remaining 3% he deemed 'retarded'). Contrary to egalitarianism (a Christian moral) upheld by modern law, people are not born equal. Auvinen saw the folly in this religion-based pretense ('all men are equal under the eyes of God') and that its place and effective role prevents intelligent people from possessing their rightful positions in society. With crowd-serving democrats in charge, leadership is effectively given to the feeble wants of millions of individualistic 'normals'. When an increasingly-unintelligent majority choose leaders, power is given to whoever pleases said majority the most. Whilst throughout human history there has generally been nothing wrong with everyday people under effective leadership, given the right (wrong) circumstances (globalization, democracy, consumerism), they can become akin to parasites. For a society to work, its denizens require strong and capable leadership.

In his manifesto, Pekka-Eric was particularly critical of man's endeavours to eradicate natural selection. Some of his online usernames included "Natural Selector" and "NaturalSelector89". He realised the importance of this natural function, and the problems that have arisen due to its avoidance. Unintelligent people breed like rabbits, reproducing more and faster than the intelligent. Auvinen argues that there is no inherent evil in death or killing, as they are natural occurrences that happen all the time in order for populations to be controlled and inferior beings to die so the stronger continue to evolve. Natural disasters, diseases, killing - these are all natural mechanisms which maintain the world as an organic whole by allowing dysfunctional elements to be eliminated instead of degenerating and slowing collapsing under the strains of mediocrity. Pekka-Eric saw that the continual degeneracy of humans was largely due to the prevention of these natural processes, and that in fact humans are now de-evolving. He believed that through religion, 'idiocratic' ideologies, laws and social systems, the human race is trying to control nature as if man is not a part of it. Through these delusions, man has created a social world with religious grounding that foolishly denies it is a part of nature and hence subject to its will. Instead, nature is simply viewed as 'the environment' which is merely a resource ($$$!!) for mankind, but also contains potential threats which can be solved by sadistically hunting species to the point of extinction, and pouring cement over as much ground as possible.

Action: A Teenager's Impact

Impact On Wednesday 7th of November 2007, 9 human lives were taken by Pekka-Eric at Jokela High School. The Finnish people were undoubtedly shocked to hear of the second school shooting in their country (the first being in 1989 - the year Auvinen was born). Police were first alerted of the happenings at 11:44am and arrived 10 minutes later, by which point five boys, one girl and the school nurse were dead. On the anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution, Auvinen walked through the school yelling 'Revolution': a revolution of his own. The school's headmistress was wounded and later died in hospital, making the kill count 8. Auvinen attempted to take his own life by gunshot (Semi-automatic .22 Sig Sauer Mosquito pistol) to the head, and later died in hospital. It was reported that 10 others were injured, though only one suffered a gunshot wound, the rest were hurt escaping the building.

If we analyze current society and read Auvinen's manifesto, it is understandable to a degree why he committed such a terrible deed. Pekka-Eric Auvinen was disgusted with the human race in present times, and had a message for those who were listening that he deemed was worth sacrificing himself and others. Millions of people heard of this 18 year old who acted to an extreme few others would. Following the incident there were television and internet news reports across the world. For those who refuse to listen to his words, these sorts of incidents alone without their socio-political reasons are hard to ignore. Since 1996, there have been 51 school shootings worldwide - a sure sign itself that society is insane.

Pekka-Eric Auvinen - A CORRUPT Perspective On The Jokela Shootings

Pekka-Eric Auvinen and impact The glory of the real world belongs to those strong-minded people who elect to rise above mediocrity and act. Some may be willing to write off the Jokela High School shootings as a rather despondent fatalist taking a few others out with him in a misanthropic killing spree. The quote at the end of this article shows a reality quite contrary to this. Auvinen may have succumbed to being full of hate towards humans, but only the "stupid" modern majority, which is quite understandable. It is impossible to deny the other contributing factors to this ruthless shooting, such as anger, hate and suicidal feelings. He became unhappy through his realisations of not only society but of life itself through his wanderings in existentialism. It appears he could not completely handle this earthly existence after coming to know what he knew, and through his philosophy which seemingly lacked in idealism, he fell victim to fatalism to a certain extent. This ultimately lead to his death. There may be people who criticize Pekka-Eric for this, though due to his age, the current global situation, and the manner in which he killed himself, we believe he can be forgiven these shortcomings.

Auvinen sought to accomplish something with his death: hardly a fatalistic feat. Instead of a selfish, life-despising wrist-slicing, Pekka-Eric Auvinen sacrificed himself and 8 other lives to spread a message. People who fearlessly sacrifice their lives for a higher purpose recognize they are part of a whole, and if the whole is not functioning correctly they commit to action. This is ego-death, and this is triumph of a willing spirit that recognized life as a continual organic process. While CORRUPT does not advocate, glorify or promote school shootings in any way, it does not condemn those that happen as it recognizes the cause and intent driving such actions. CORRUPT seeks to promote Pekka-Eric Auvinen's ideas to make use of this tragic event and help fulfill its objective, and so honour the nine victims who lost their lives. To not take notice of Auvinen's message would mean these people died needlessly.

If we want to live in a different world, we must act. We must rise against the enslaving, corrupted and totalitarian regimes and overthrow the tyrants, gangsters and the rule of idiocracy. I can’t alone change much but hopefully my actions will inspire all the intelligent people of the world and start some sort of revolution against the current systems. ... I am ready to die for a cause I know is right, just and true... even if I would lose or the battle would be only remembered as evil... I will rather fight and die than live a long and unhappy life.
