Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off.
Good leadership involves responsibility to the welfare of the group, which means that some people will get angry at your actions and decisions. It’s inevitable, if you’re honorable. Trying to get everyone to like you is a sign of mediocrity: you’ll avoid the tough decisions, you’ll avoid confronting the people who need to be confronted, and you’ll avoid offering differential rewards based on differential performance because some people might get upset.
Ironically, by procrastinating on the difficult choices, by trying not to get anyone mad, and by treating everyone equally “nicely” regardless of their contributions, you’ll simply ensure that the only people you’ll wind up angering are the most creative and productive people in the organization.

Constructive criticism.
So far I think you're a great addition to the editorial staff and have already created many stimulating and engaging articles and threads.
However.
To be blunt, my reaction to your video went as follows: "Oh, an introductory vid.... by the gods she did not choose that top... *facepalm* ...heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere comes the shitstorm"
With all due respect, wearing a top like that, especially on a conservative leaning site, is going to naturally cause most people to have negative assumptions about you (such as utilizing your sexuality to win people over.) You may not intend that impression at all, but, unfortunately, what you intend does not matter in the eyes of others, only what they see. Dressing like that is going to mostly bring you nothing but trouble.
You're either going to either have to dress more conservatively, or if that is the way you wish to dress, accept the fact that people are going to tend to assume the worst.

I'd say, in terms of cleavage, it's a mix around here with conservative dress being mostly dominant (especially in professional environments), but also depending on such factors as location, event, etc. I honestly don't mind cleavage within a casual context (like a club or bar or whatnot.)
However, to me, showing cleavage on a news/writing website gives the same impression as a news anchorwoman on national t.v. showing cleavage rather than a closed business suit or conservative dress. I know Corrupt isn't quite that major league, but I still look upon Corrupt with enough seriousness to think that a similiar level of professionalism should be maintained. I'll also acknowledge that perahps it's a cultural/worldview issue.

A real, live Corrupt columnist?
Sofia, its very nice to be able to see an actual writer on Corrupt that I can see is a real person. It would be interesting if the other columnists did an intro video like this as well...
As for the people who are commenting who are just throwing petty insults....dont let them discourage you. I very much enjoy your articles, as well as the others on this site. It's just disappointing that some people have to waste time being rude just because they either don't agree with everything or are insecure.

Thank you! I really wasn't expecting that level of vitriol in response to an introductory video. Honestly! I was really trying to convey some approachability, and personability, in the otherwise cold medium that is the internet. I understand it's also generally intimidating to comment, but now I see why.

I will just have to agree with some of the others, it's a nice change to see an actual person associated with the articles. Anonymity has its definite advantages, particular opinions being harder to dismiss emotionally when there is no real chance of doing it ad hominem-style, but the more open approach is still preferable, in my opinion.

Experts or people of status do not have a monopoly on the truth, as if interesting things can only be talked about by x kind of person at x age with x degree. I'd like to think intelligent people go for susbtance over form and package it comes in. So what of sofia is a 20 year old with her own human imperfections? I agree in some of the criticism against the "new" Corrupt. It was better before.

I didn't mean it as a personal insult, just have just been trying to get Alex to face some realities that are too harsh for him. I haven't made claims to your intelligence either you may be the smartest philosophy student at your university, I just dislike this new Corrupt which I keep giving chances too and it always fall short.
Comparing this to certain other sites
At least when there's a face to the columnists there's some proof that they're something other than the socially awkward 'nihilist' sort who are invariably insular and quiet as a mouse in a given social situation, looking for an outlet to qualify their maladjustment. Naming no names, of course.

Cowards? It's been brought up plenty of times in plenty of threads. There is no need to contact you about it when you see it being posted, weekly, if not daily, that this site is going to shit. The topic has been in your face for a while now, you just chose not to deal with it, and simply toss out pathetic insults, such as the one above.
