Two officers were set on by a mob, some wearing school uniform, after they asked a teenage girl to pick up a fast-food wrapper she had dropped.
At one point more than 30 people were involved in the fight in North End, a popular after-school hangout for young people.
The officer said that when the girl's parents arrived at the police station they complained that the start of her summer holiday had been disrupted.

These parents, along with their child, are the kind of people we should send out into the desert. We don't need them in society. They are destructive, ignorant, stupid and respectless. If we continue to protect and breed more of these, we'll eventually get overthrown by idiots. The only way to solve the problem is to stop supporting them.

Evening all
Now who would want to be a copper in today's world? The poor street plod is booed, hissed, converted into a robocop and is then expected to what exactly? Do everything that most of us are too gutless to even contemplate, me included.
Keep in mind that if you work in and with crap then expect your arms to get a little grubby, yes? So, following that line, if you deal with fringe folks, criminals, really nasty sods then you can expect to develop a jaundiced eye as far as loving your neighbour goes, right? It's unavoidable. Some stuff you have to switch off from or you go mental yourself. It is as though some jobs come with built-in PTSD for example, policing, nursing, ambo's, fierys, social workers. But does the civilian need to hear this? No way, all we want is to do what ever it is we want to do whenever we want to do it and have nobody interfere with us, right? We want to be safe whilst we go about our lawful business don't we? Have i got news for you. The police have never been about truth, justice and all that other pie in the sky cake decoration. What the police are is about maintaining and patrolling that little area between you and your neighbour ripping each others throats out. So beat your scrawny chest 'cos you are a lion and the bobby is the lion tamer.
Lordy, how i wish Dixon of Dock Green had been real life, still he was a nice fairy story.
Evening all.
Yes
The days in this country are littered with such moronic incidents...
wrong
"...should send out into the desert." I disagree. this might have been true years ago, but lately if you pull your head out of your ass you can see the push towards a worldwide police state. Everywhere (where was this?) is just a nazi style police state. cops always watching, always warning, beating people down, "pick up your trash!" (hence obey the cop, he’s your master). Now in this example I’m sure its not directly about the wrapper/trash, that’s jus the catalyst that set it off, the people probably hate the cops. I completely agree more every day. I mean why was an entire mob going after the cops? Because everyone hates those Orwellian nazi’s. The cops are not your friend or protector, they are corrupt and dictatorial now.
So you support littering?
So you support littering? You should sent out in the desert.
Cops perform best when
Cops perform best when they're a localized source of security working in their own community or neighborhood, with people they know and who know them. But when they become a depersonalized force of authority, as is often the case in ghettos or large cities (this incident occurred in a black ghetto in South London), they're viewed with fear, mistrust, and disdain. Cops are frustrated because they have to deal with people who show them hatred when they feel they're just dong their job, and a beneficial job at that. An angry, embittered mindset is the result. But the ghetto-dwellers have a point- they want to be ruled by their own people, with their own laws. Unfortunately, the result would not fit into mainstream European society. So.. whats the answer? Send them back, let them be separate- pluralism doesn't work.
Hardly
When it comes to Orwellian paranoia being waved at our face, we might take as it is, not questioning what stands behind it
Why would a person work as a police officer? he believes in certain values and dedicates his life to their protection, and to the protection of his fellow citizens. Most of them become disillusiond at a point, but it does not matter that they should do their best to "serve and protect". Sadly, when an officer asks someone to pick up their rubbish they lash out at him instead of saying "sorry, you're right" and picking it up, which doesn't take a lot of energy. The officer isn't a tyrant, he's an extension of autority, and not recognizing it is a form of corruption. people hate them for a simple reason - THEY HATE AUTHORITY, they hate being confrinted with the fact that there might be someone who knows better, even for their sake, and they hate not being kings. Until you root it out, people will see beating up cops as legitimate.
