Christopher Alexander?
First time I read him, his down-to-earth outlook on architecture amazed me, I guess the possibility thereof
and his sense of hmm, krsna, make him one of the heroes innerhalb the academia, I guess.
Please, correct if I`m wrong.
Fragments of value
I feel that many of the subjects listed, be they people or organisations, offer something of value to this movement.
Many of the organisations, such as satanism and christianity, are based around a foundation of sense decorated in an aura of mystery and nonsense to broaden their appeal to a wider audience.
Providing this site sifts through the trash where necessary and ellicits the genuine wisdom of those on the list, their inclusion will be worthwhile.
A question
Why is Christopher Alexander of importance?
I agree
Satanists worship the ego too much in my opinion.
Too much individualism creates superiority complexes.
What I hate more than stupid people being stupid,
is stupid people pretending to be intelligent.
As Christians go... I mean, good luck, get a few fundamentalists in here and you got a religious war going on. They'll be preaching Jesus to you all day and tell
you that if you don't conform to their standards you will go to hell. Sometimes people forget that religion is a tool of manipulation, anyways...
This is supposed to be an intellectual sanctuary,
I know you guys need support, but if you get too many
morons going to this site it's gonna suck, royally.
When I don't know something, I fess up, I don't play games.
And there are many, playing stupid is just one. I believe in straight up talk, maybe it's my European heritage, who knows. What I'm getting at is, most people play games, they think they're smart doing it too. All it makes me wanna do is smash their faces. Humans, like animals, only understand one thing, and that is, negative reinforcement. You cannot argue with someone who already made his mind up and won't listen to reason. So, in conclusion, I guess, be careful what kind of people you target, me, personally, I'd only target potential school shooters, but that's just me. At least some of them, not all, understand beyond simple words.
It's sort of true...
Although I did admire a few of the things LaVay came up with, I do think most of it is fairly redicuouls.
But the point of this is to learn about it, not teach it right?
And you do have a very real point there, it would be tragic to have this site turn into a religious flame war.
Fundamentalist
Damian,
I tend to agree with you as far a "Fundies" are concerned. Attempting to carry on an intelligent conversation with them leaves me confounded, irritated, and wondering how we ever came to walk upright. I mean the 'willed ignorance' defies all logic.
I have to admit I know very little about Satanism if anything. I try not to label myself anything other than human. I try to find value in almost all belief systems and philosophies. However, I do not accept any one of them as 'wholesale truth'. Nor is 'blind faith' something I perscribe to. If we are to move forward we must be willing to adapt an let go of false safety nets and myths of the past. That is something "Fundies" can not or will not do. I would probably compare them loosely to Nietzsches' slave morality herd. The nay-sayers who refuse to move ahead and rise above. "Fundies" can not remake anything because their instruction booklet has not been updated(with the exception of the King James Version) in 2000 years.
Something to consider,
If there is a Creator and we were made in his image, then he created us with a fully functioning brain. It would be doing this Creator a great injustice to not use what he gave us to advance and grow as a people. Not to blindly follow an outdated text which was written and edited by man.
On the other hand. If there is no Creator and we have a life with no true meaning. It is up to us to use our fully fuctioning brains to create meaning for ourselves and those around us.
This is not a shot a Christianity, many of the messages at its' core have value. It is a shot at those who continue to irrationaly believe things(in any form of faith or system) despite overwhelming evidence or proofs to the contrary.
Satanists?
I seriously doubt any self-proclaimed "satanists" could offer any value to this organization. An exemplar of Satanism is (was?) Ihsahn, whose music with Emperor on "In The Nightside Eclipse" is supernatural in origin. Yet even he devolved into fanatic individualism over the course of time.
As far as Christianity is concerned, I think that only Catholics could possibly find merit in the work of ANUS/Corrupt. The subsequent Christian religions lack any intellectual, philosophical tradition that would support critical thinking. Indeed, with Luther, they have divorced themselves from academic dialogues regarding issues that transcend theology.
We do need Zionists and African Americans to support this cause. The only notable Jewish contributor to Corrupt appears to be some "Milo Weinberg" character who is featured in NYC news articles.
