The Value of Confidence

Just how sexy is confidence? Just about everyone from feminists to pickup artists agrees that it is of utmost importance. Roissy writes that you should be more confident even if you have no objective reason for it:
Be irrationally self-confident
No matter what your station in life, stride through the world without apology or excuse. It does not matter if objectively you are not the best man a woman can get; what matters is that you think and act like you are. Women have a dog’s instinct for uncovering weakness in men; don’t make it easy for them. Self-confidence, warranted or not, triggers submissive emotional responses in women.
All right, let's test that hypothesis. What if a guy who is not all that bad looking but has a very uninteresting personality convinced himself to the inmost depths of his soul that he is extremely sexy and irresistible to women? Would they actually desire him, or at least be less repelled? Here is a good test case, and the answer is "hell fucking no", but if you are still not convinced there is further data available.

I see you havent stop. You still cant think. What he means is you should be irrationally self-confident but not to the degree that you have pointed out, what you pointed out is delusion and some severe mental problem. Self confidence helps you do many things which is why he states that since it really does help around women.
Just cause it didnt work for you when you tried to meet women does not mean you have to write a goddamn blog comment on Corrupt about it. People in general like self confidence because otherwise you seem weak. Instead of thinking you are so smart why not point out that strategy and tell people to try it, instead of you trying it for them then writing some blurb which shows that you busted the myth.

I think "The Continental" is funny, and even funnier when placed in the context of Roissy. Making fun of nerds is always a worthy enterprise.

However, it is better to be too confident than underconfident. The former will alienate people at worst, the latter will turn you into a doormat at best.

By claiming so, I assume that you have lots of experience with women, or perhaps you're just another bitter loser who is pissed off because you don't know how to behave around them?
If you find it pathetic that women are attracted by self-confidence, rather than weakness, like that displayed in whiny statements like "I choose death over this miserable world", then you ought to think a little bit longer.
And for the record, it is whiners like yourself that is making the world miserable by spreading your fatalist crap, so let me convey a primitive, but quite sincere statement ; "Go kill yourself".
Just Plain Bitter
Fawning confidence doesn't mean a man is automatically worth your time, yet women will flock to them just because they can fake it, as opposed to a man that is better than the fake, but doesn't have a backbone to even recognize his own greatness.
It's great that a woman wants a confidant man, but how many of these women only want one so that they can just leave all their problems on him? Not all men appreciate a submissive woman.
Self-confidence and being able to back it is important, but it means nothing if the ladies aren't observational enough to tell the difference between real power and fake power.
