Corrupt Meeting: San Francisco, CA - July 20, 2008

Corruptians are organizing a meetup in San Francisco, CA. Our goal is to round up an intellectually diverse group of Corrupt enthusiasts for productive and enlightening interactions such as will leave all participants with new perspectives, new insight, and new friends. The tentative itinerary so far includes a hike in the mountains, a flyering campaign at the University of California, and loads of discussion and information-sharing.

This meeting will be held sometime during the week of July 20-26--the exact date will be determined over the next few days, and will be chosen to suit the schedules and convenience of those who express an interest in attending.

You may contact Corrupt member Chipmunk here for more information.

To see the list of all upcoming Corrupt events, check here.

Corrupt is an influential thinktank & civilization watchdog that believe a better future for humans will come by embracing reality and not silly bureaucratic, academic or emotional abstractions. Our goal is to critique the society of our current time and get human civilization back on track with sorting out our actual problems.

New Column: Prison Break

When inviting people into your home, a good rule of thumb says avoid those who given a chance would steal your car, rape your wife, eat your children or beat up your dog. It's much the same in society. If you don't want your civilization to be a smoking ruin, you need to be selective about who you include as members.

This obvious rule hasn't crossed the minds of our puppet leaders. They're too busy counting the cash from people they use as cheaper labor, and then sell products to them. Since you pretty much have to be sociopathic to exchange lies for votes and not care about the outcome, they're not concerned about whatever disasters this will create.

Read Alex Birch's latest column: Prison Break

What's The Corrupt Stance On Drugs?

I was asked this question today by a contributor, and here's the answer:

Corrupt believes in something called parallelism: some communities might allow drugs, others might not. Instead of, like in most of the West today, apply one value system to all people, we need to be flexible and allow different communities to carry different values.

Generally we take a libertarian socialist stance on issues like drugs and sodomy: if you can do it at home without being destructive to the community, feel free to do it. If you can't control it outside of your private life, you need to stop or you'll face exclusion/death. So, we're libertarian in that we believe the individual has a right to pursue his or her own interests in life, but we're also socialists in that we believe these interests ultimately must be within the context of the interests of the community as a whole. That which is destructive to the community is not allowed.

The point with our stance is that we don't believe in a war on drugs. It doesn't work. You can't holocaust or ban all gays on the planet, and some people will always do drugs, so we need to find zones where they can do that, away from people who are not into that.

New Article: The Kingdom Of Peasants: A Parable

Long ago, a kingdom between two others fell upon hard times. The people grumbled, the surly underlings who outnumbered their king and his soldiers, although each soldier could probably slaughter a thousand before he fell. "This king has let us suffer, while he lives well," they snarled. The priest -- who had only one King in some place called Heaven, rumored to be just over the next mountain range -- had to agree. Kings, he felt, caused men to suffer, and wasn't there enough suffering in life, as it is?

The king heard from the ear of kindly merchant, Mosai, who told him of the grumblings. "They're not going to hold much longer!" he said. "My shop, my life, is in danger. You have to do something."

Corrupt Survivalist Explains How To Create A Fire

Anthony Domke, guest columnist and member of the Corrupt survivalist group, recently published a post on his experience with setting up fires:

Until this spring I'd never started a fire without paper, which I personally find quite ridiculous. (There is no reason that human today shouldn't be able to light and build a fire easily. For much of human history our very survival depended on being able to do it, but modern people, myself included, have no idea how to.) I've experimented a bit with fire-building this year, and I've quickly realized it can be pretty demoralizing. Early in the spring I decided I should take it slow and work up completely incompetent to highly skilled by working thusly:

First, make sure I can get a fire going with only natural materials and a lighter. No paper, no gasoline; dry leaves and wood shavings should be good enough.

Then, get to the point where I can build a fire and light it with only one match.

After that, work up the courage to do it with a spark only. Can't be that hard, right? I'm smarter than a Neanderthal.

The first spark fire can be done with a firesteel and char cloth; this isn't cheating. Once I've done this, I want to do it using only natural materials (not counting my knife, which is carbon steel). First use the firesteel and punky wood or moss, or anything else that will hold a spark; then find a piece of flint rock that will create a spark when struck against my knife and repeat.

Anthony has published two videos to show how this works. In this video he demonstrates how to ignite a small fire using pitchwood:

The second video is a longer demonstration of how to create a larger camp fire:

Read Anthony's entire post here: "Building a fire"

Corrupt Meeting: Connecticut - August 15, 2008

A Corrupt meeting is planned the weekend of the 15th of August. We will be hosting a small workshop of practical primitive skills, namely spear-making and fire-starting. Numerous museums await us in order to educate us not only on the history of New England but also the world. Marveling at the the transportation devices of the 1800's will also be undertaken for the day in which we fall back 200 years is within our lifespans. Carbon use may continue to doom mankind to an Earth warm and flooded; ah, tres bonne! c'est la vie! The Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk, CT is hosting not only albino alligators, but also has beautiful, informative exhibitions of marine life. Beyond that we aim to have much fun and will learn much from one another. If the solar stove Ukkonen has purchases arrives by that time, he will show how to cook delicious vegetarian meals using only the sun's generosity.

A demonstration of oil wrestling will also be displayed as Ukkonen will attempt to wrestle Vazul in a muddy pit with both wearing little but a loincloth while soaked with peanut oil.

To participate in the meeting, contact Ukkonen via the Corrupt forum here

MySpace Police Bans Corrupt Account

Cyberspace - 07/03/08 - The thought police has struck once again, this time banning Corrupt from MySpace. No motivation was given by the company for deleting the popular Corrupt profile account, carrying close to 400 collaborators and friends. The action taken by MySpace is similar to that of Facebook late last year, when it deleted a support group for high school shooter Pekka-Eric Auvinen, revealing the false idea of social networks as "free" and "tolerant."

MySpace didn't delete the Corrupt account because it violated any user terms. It deleted the account because it was growing and becoming an influential force among the people who visited its network of people and resources. Like Facebook, it decided that some ideas are not included in the democratic field of freedom, and so pulled the plug to another dissident. This is how liberal democracy works: paint a public facade where everyone's invited, while excluding any ideas or groups that disagree with the agenda of the financial powers behind the system. It's dishonest, and possibly the most effective method of totalitarianism existing.

Corrupt will not let any of these companies stop us in the struggle to become an influential media power to count on. We continue our efforts elsewhere, but have in the mean time created a new account, located here:

Spread it around to friends and family. Don't forget to add us to your Facebook, lastFM and YouTube profile as well:

The Philosophy Behind The Corrupt Site Design

As commented by our web designer Carl Hanson:

I wanted to do something clean and optimistic, hence all the white colour, and the "polished" surface. This goes for the logo as well. As for the header image to the right, it symbolizes a sort of fearless, optimistic ride into the future, but choosing a direction that is another than the conventional (democratic/liberal/humanist) - hence the curve. We also needed some colour other than the white, grey and black to make it all less monochrome, so I chose something between red and orange, which aims to show that our intent is passionate and sincere, not passive or dishonest.

Interested in Carl Hanson, his work, or web design in general?

In The Name Of Cyberwarfare: Corruptians Force Greenism Back On Track

Cyberspace - 07/03/08 - The dollar or the green? That's the question George Monbiot posed in his latest editorial for the Guardian. Monbiot argues that while climate awareness is spreading among people, including the lower classes, the economic worries threaten to overshadow the climate debate. The conflict is well-known for all the readers of Corrupt, who have followed the news releases describing a world where self-interest rules society. The solution promoted by Corrupt and its supporters is a new design where we uphold ancient values of honour, communitarianism, holistic morals, and a joyful, heroic outlook on life. To battle the greed of the financial globalist elite, we need spiritual and cultural weapons. This is not a struggle between armed armies, it's a war between different paradigms of values.

The 1st of July, a crusade of Corruptian cybersoldiers began infiltrating the comments to the editorial and get the disillusioned greenist movement back on track by addressing the real issues and downplaying the self-defeatist mentality of greens who want to believe in change, but revert into defending detailed solutions that only serve as symbolic resistance. "Conservationist" immediately brought the discussion back to the topic of modern selfishness as a psychological motive that underlies the self-destruction of the Western world:

We've followed what is popular/profitable and it got us into this mess; surely we're smarter than repeating the same mistake again.

Most people vote for whatever seems good at the time. They're unaware of everything beyond about the next two weeks, or their next vacation. So the line "Being selfish today will destroy everything in the future" gets the response "What do I care, I'll be dead or retired. I need the money, a new truck and a big-screen TV right now!"

Several people pointed out how the governmental body of politics consistently denies or ignores the real problems facing our planet, and how this is linked to a push for totalitarian globalization. "jeanaillant" put it this way:

The world expansion is a direct function of the energy consumtion. Oil is the major contributor. It has allowed the globalization by reducing the shipping cost. It is also the source of the green revolution which has allow the world population to double in the last 30 years. (fertilizers, pesticides, mechanisation, irrigation, improved seeds)

The club of Rome told us already in 1970 that we could not keep on growing this way as nature doest not like geometrical progression. But they were turn into ridicule.

Today as we do not want to acknowledge previous mistakes, we are invoking a new pretext to halt the world development: the supposed climate change. Yet proofs that man is responsible for that change, if real, are twisted. But what is sure is, that it is another excuse for European governments to raise once more taxes and reduce our liberties.

The 1984-esque scenario concerned several readers, including "icurahuman2," who argued that our civilization itself is at stake, and that a shared effort to recognize the environmental problems and consolidate under that banner to save both the ecology and the human society we've established as parallel to it, is ultimately the goal for humanity at this point in history:

There are two choices before us. We can turn even more against each other in an epic battle of tribes over the remaining resources, and decline rapidly to fringe-dwelling remnants - unto even total annihilation in a battle of the last civilisations standing. Or, we can unite in light of assured paucity of resources and decline slowly toward equilibrium with a shared common goal, the survival of civilisation itself!

Regardless if our climate fears turn out to be based on false information, which at this point is highly unlikely, the problem of overpopulation, deforestation and overindustrialization remain our top green problems to do deal with. Corrupt wants to solve these problems by immediately strangling the world population growth and reduce its numbers down to ~1 billion intelligent, beautiful and creative human individuals, cut back on the technological and industrial overhead, simplify our lifestyle and adapt it to the human nature and its need for physical and mental challenge, and exchange our modern values for those upheld by ancient civilizations that praised the nobility, passion and idealism in man.

Participants included: ElizH, ThinkPositive, Antiglobalism, Conservationist, dave931, forestfrost, jeanaillant, endeu, hobobum, icurahuman2

Target: George Monbiot / This economic panic is pushing the planet right back down the agenda

References for further studies:

New Column: Idiocrats Hijack British Language

Earth calling Great Britain: You're no longer great and you're about to become un-Britified. A growing number of uneducated peasants are taking over the political arena and the cultural institutions. Now they've hijacked the English language, seriously proposing to dumb it down by spelling all words phonetically. I guess the American ghetto vocabulary ("dawg," "hoe," "gangsta") wasn't enough of a simplification to make yourself understandable. Together with Portugal we're now closing in on our Third World friends in Brazil. No need for messy translations anymore, since every citizen of the World Empire (c) will be able to say the magical words "I need money" and "I've got hoes in the back, wanna go foh a raaiidh?"
