Men who sleep around like to justify their behavior by suggesting that this is the normal natural instinct in men - and that it is against male nature to be content while being faithful to one partner. Women, on the other hand, are assumed to have an in-built tendency to be keen on ensnaring men into monogamous relationships.

Human behavior is not as natural as it once was. Civilization's protection of the weak has the effect on humans that domestication has on animals. Instincts are lost and warped, and culture further affects what is considered acceptable in society. Fashions can change, and one kind of lifestyle be promoted, especially effectively by our media, that can make the lifestyles of our grandparents seem entirely out-dated when, on the contrary, many respects their social mores may have been far more beneficial that the hedonistic abandon their descendents are encouraged to emulate.

Some cultures have entrenched monogamy and marriage, while others have never considered this to be important. In the cultures where promiscuity has traditionally been most common, courtship is very short if there is any at all. It is far more often a quick copulation with no emotional bonding taking place. How men and women treat each other is very much influenced by how much romantic love is valued.

Should enough people from a promiscuous culture become immigrants to a culture in which men are used to taking their time to date a woman and find out about her as a person, it creates havoc. The two dating techniques are so incompatible that something has to give. And if you look at the changes happening around us, it certainly can be said that there is far less time spent investing in a bond before sex than used to be the tradition. It is likely that once a man observes the object of his passion being quickly seduced by the skilled techniques of a single-minded lothario with no intention of commitment, he feels either a competitive drive or else he feels depressed and loses confidence. The result of this has been that more people sleep around and that love has become far less important to people looking for a partner than the cheap thrill of shallow sex.

Taboos have broken down, and sexual imagery has infused our society. What used to be considered inappropriate or shameful is now something widely promoted in every way possible.

Part of the problem has been that there has been a level of prudishness concerning nudity which was both excessive and also led to hypocrisy. Christianity, and the sexual repression it has encouraged, caused sexual behavior to be viewed as sinful, when in pagan times it was never viewed in such a moralist way. In the past it has been normal in many European cultures to be both monogamous and yet entirely unburdened by sexual repression . So it would be wrong to equate monogamy with sexual repression.

Promiscuous activity has an impact on society in various ways. Sexual jealousy can be very disruptive to social order. Thinking someone else has their eye on your lover, even after marriage, and that they may well leave is emotionally draining, and simply having to have sexual competition so strongly on people's minds leaves less opportunity to be productive or creative. It is entirely at odds with the kind of mental state necessary to maintain, let alone to build, civilization. Which all goes to show that we are now on a downward trajectory into chaos!

The spread of STDs causes sterility and death. At least 10% of Western women have been infected by mild infections like Chlamydia and this is a consequence of promiscuousness. Children need their parents to be in a stable relationship for their psychological health, and damage impacts on society at large.

Promiscuity is a sign of death. While sex should be the method to create life, the promiscuous do the opposite, spreading disease, infertility, and mental illness. There is a strong link between mental illness and promiscuity in the West (not so in other cultures). It is as if there is a neurotic feeling of insecurity together with a fear of commitment and intimacy. No love is given and none is received. It suggests a personality that is out of control, with no sense of purpose or direction and is often coupled by other high risk activities like alcoholism or drug abuse.

Our civilization is declining and society is falling into decadence, debauchery, violence and chaos just like ancient Rome. A backlash is likely. In the case of Rome, the weakness caused by their degeneracy allowed the Germanic barbarians to conquer them and introduce better standards of sexual behavior. In our case a backlash is more likely from groups within our civilization who refuse to integrate nor to practice the degeneracy of the dominant culture.
