Why would I expect anyone to understand me, or love me for what I am?
They love an image, appreciate an image, interact with a symbol.
They have no idea who, what, or why I am what I am. And it's unfair to expect them to.
The strangers sneering at you on the street don't have souls and will land in Hades anyway. You can kill them with impunity.

I agree with the meat-suit comment here. Most people are hand-to-mouth, just following trends for a paycheck and some social notoriety. They have no idea what they are doing and no idea that this is the case.
