In total, 367 volunteer participants completed an online survey. Of them, 21% either have or have had an unfaithful relationship. The majority (81.7%) were doctors. Men were 4.3 times more unfaithful than women, with these differences being statistically significant (OR = 4.37, p < 0.001). Of the participants involved in an unfaithful relationship within the work area, the majority were men. Likewise, those who reported having had sex in the doctor's room on duty were also men, with these differences being statistically significant (OR = 12.81, p < 0.01). The night emergency schedule was 60% more frequent in unfaithful people, and these differences were statistically significant (OR = 12.43, p < 0.01). There is a significant rate of infidelity in doctors and nurses. Men are more likely to be unfaithful than women are, and people who work nighttime emergencies are more likely to be unfaithful.

Two new studies find that women may be genetically predisposed to cheating on their partners.

One study published today by the University of California, Los Angeles Center on Behavior, Culture, and Evolution and the University of New Mexico says women have evolved to cheat on their mates during the most fertile part of their cycle, but only when those mates are less sexually attractive than other men.

A related study, which will be published in Evolution and Human Behavior, finds that women are more likely to fantasize about men other than their mates, but only when they don't consider their mates to be particularly sexy. That UCLA study examined 43 normally ovulating women.

The indictment alleges that Latoya Cantrell, the Mayor of New Orleans, and Jeffrey Paul Vappie, a member of her Executive Protection Unit (EPU), developed a personal relationship in October 2021. To conceal their relationship and maximize their time together, they allegedly created a scheme to defraud the City of New Orleans by engaging in personal activities while Vappie was on duty and being paid for providing protection.

As part of the scheme, it is alleged that Cantrell had Vappie accompany her on at least 14 out-of-state trips, falsely claiming she needed protection for safety concerns. These trips reportedly cost the City of New Orleans over $70,000, not including Cantrell's own travel expenses. The indictment also claims that Vappie and Cantrell used a city-owned apartment in the Pontalba Building for personal use, with Vappie frequently spending time there while on duty.

Former Mayor Ray Nagin was under federal investigation during his time in office, from 2002 to 2010, but he was not indicted on corruption charges until 2013. He was convicted in 2014 and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Florence County Sheriff's deputies found Trey Dean Wright of Johnsonville dead on First Neck Road with multiple gunshot wounds June 24, authorities said previously. He was found about 45 miles west of Myrtle Beach.

One of the suspects was Wright's girlfriend, Gianna Kistenmacher, a Myrtle Beach 17-year-old, his mother said.

Kistenmacher was charged with being an accessory before the fact for allegedly bringing Raper to the crime scene knowing he was both armed and likely to kill her boyfriend, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

I'm bisexual, and I'm happily married to a man. That said, I do feel the occasional desire to sleep with another woman. I haven't yet, but I'm contemplating asking my husband to open up the marriage. My idea is that I would only be allowed to sleep with women. I think it might work because the biological underpinnings of male jealousy wouldn't be there in this situation, when I'm not sleeping with another man.

6 weeks ago my wife told me she's been cheating on me. I had been suspicious for sometime - I certainly knew something was horribly wrong in our marriage and that she had pushed me away emotionally. For some reason she decided to come clean -- sort of. To keep from dragging this out too much, I'll compress the details. She told me she'd been having an affair with a co-worker, but initially lied about the timeline and details. Over the next week, she told me the whole story and as it turns out, it was more than one affair. It was an affair 5 years ago with a co-worker that lasted a short time, her current affair with a co-worker that has lasted 3 years, and a one night stand on a business trip a year ago. Needless to say I am devastated, crushed, ripped apart. I was in no way prepared for that. It has been the worst 6 weeks of my life. She told me she had ended the affair and wanted to fix us. Not true. She has remained in contact with the current three year affair through WhatsApp. She changed jobs and moved away from where he works but.... what else is there to say. She hasn't stopped all contact, she has not provided transparency, she really has done nothing. She has begun individual counseling, we've gone to couples counseling twice, but I'm not sure she truly wants to work it out. I've been a complete mess. I'm all over the place. One minute I want to run and file for divorce, the next I can't imagine my life without her. I've told her I think we could get through this and I've also told her I want her out of the house. (She won't leave). I've begun intense counseling and have been reading everything I can get my hands on. I'm now at a place, 6 weeks in, where I feel like I can think a bit more clearly. She has moved into the spare room so we are in different rooms at least, but for most of the time over the last few weeks I have followed her around trying to get her to talk and explain to me, and beg me for forgiveness, etc. of course that pushed her away further. I have for the past few days tried to seriously implement a 180. I'm only moderately successful so far. I do love her, but I don't think I can get over this - I don't think she wants me too, even though she says she's done with the other guy and never wants to be with him ( he's married with two kids, and yes his wife now knows about the affair).
